Grace Kelly
The wedding of American actress Grace Kelly and Prince Rainier II of Monaco in 1956 was one of the most memorable events in history, and inspired almost every celebrity wedding that followed; likewise, Grace Kelly’s classic yet intricate wedding dress is an inspiration for brides to this day. Her gown was described as one of the best bridal gowns since the 20th century, and for good reason.
Throughout most of her acting career, Grace Kelly was signed with the famous MGM studio, and her wedding gown was designed by Helen Rose, a costume designer who worked for MGM, given to the actress as a wedding gift from the studio. The gown featured a full skirt and a bodice of lace, which was described as a “lace masterpiece,” a headdress, a veil and a matching white prayer book, embroidered with lace and pearls.
