Memorials
As you would expect from a big-budget action movie, the climaxes of a lot of Marvel films involve mass destruction and huge casualties. When aliens arrive through a portal and the Avengers have to battle them, arguably the biggest loser is the city of New York, its buildings, and its inhabitants.
It didn’t go unnoticed by critics and viewers, that not much was made of that in the film. So, to address the balance, by the time we get to Avengers: Age of Ultron, a memorial statue for the Battle of New York has been added to the clock tower at Grand Central Station, which had been destroyed at the end of the first film.
