While it’s fair that an art gallery would be apprehensive, having Elton John purchase your artwork could be the pinnacle of any artist’s professional life. Of course, it’s a little impolite to ask for something that has been rejected simply because a celebrity has purchased a piece.
When you get to stick it to someone, it’s always entertaining, especially in a posh art gallery setting. There’s a sense that Wash Lively is about more than just the visual arts, either. On his Twitter feed, he posts lovely poems and very short stories from the hashtag #vss365, which provides suggestions to “fuel the creative muse that lives within each and every one of us.” I believe it is particularly appropriate given the current circumstances.
