#15: The Grapes of Wrath (1940)
If there are still some people around who have seen this one, they may not agree. Yes, it’s a well-made film. And there’s no discussion about the genius of John Ford. The problem is that his version of Steinbeck’s novel softened the ending and toned down its political fire. It’s a classic in its own right, but a little too light.
