The Original Illuminati

In 1776 a young upstart in the world of 18th-century philosophy named Adam Weishaupt established a secret group in Germany known as the Order of the Illuminati or the Bavarian Illuminati. The group was originally established as a way to practice secularism, freethought and reason, as well as gender equality- a society created with good intentions, and was in no way nefarious, contrary to most civilized societies today. This secret society started out very small but grew to thousands of members. However, in 1786 a new law was created, banning all secret societies within the entire country.
