From the Golden Globes to the Academy Awards: Best Red Carpet Dresses

February 5, 2017 by Miranda Hill

28. Amy Adams, 2013

Amy Adams’ red carpet dress from the Academy Awards of 2013 is something else; somewhat like her films – you either love it or you hate it. Here are some of the reasons why we love this dress: Adams took a part in creating the dress, as she came up with the inspiration for the design – an old, vintage photograph of a model. She brought this photo to the acclaimed designer Oscar de la Renta, who brought this design to life.

You could say it was their collaboration that enabled the designer to create this dress, which took long hours of work and was finished a couple of hours before the actress stepped on the red carpet as a nominee for Best Supporting Actress. The top of the gown is beaded and the dramatic skirt features layers of tulle, but as extravagant as it seems, the delicate work of the details and the light gray color makes it gentle and elegant.
