From the Golden Globes to the Academy Awards: Best Red Carpet Dresses

February 5, 2017 by Miranda Hill

56. Gwen Stefani, 2020

Since she embarked on her music career in the mid-80s, Gwen Stefani was never one to shy away from the camera. Both in her music and in her personal life, she always had a unique style. We can’t say we’re disappointed by the singer’s dress, but we can say it is somewhat more moderate that what the singer normally wears, especially when it comes to red carpet events – the ultimate place to unleash your creativity.

The thigh-high boots complete the outfit, giving it the Gwen Stefani personal touch; it might have been a tribute to her country star husband Blake Shelton. But up-close, Stefani’s dress is even more impressive: when asked about it, the singer said it was embellished with sea sells collected by her husband. While Shelton went along with it, we find it hard to believe, and even if the shells weren’t hand-piked by the couple, it stills makes for a one-of-a-kind dress.
