Mohammed Audu, son of the late Audu Abubakar who died shortly after the governorship election that was declared inconclusive by the INEC last week have been nominated to replace his father for the rerun election. The APC Party leaders in Koji made this announcement after prolonged meeting in the state capital, Lokoja earlier on Thursday.
The spokesman to the party, Mr Daniel Isah, together with the Vice Chairman of APC in Kogi East, made this known. They pledged to back Mohammed for the primary that may be taking place should the decision be reached by the APC national working committee for a fresh primary.
In response, Isah thanked the Independent National Electoral Commission and the national leadership of the party for the opportunity given to them to find a replacement for Audu who died on Nov. 23 at Ogbonicha, Ofu Local Government. An opportunity they decided to make use of by replacing the late former governor of the state with his own son
He appealed to the national leadership of the party to give their decision utmost consideration and approval in the overall interest of the party and the state.
It would be recalled that shortly after the death of Price Audu Abubakar, a lady came online on Twitter and accuse the very son of rape, an accusation that is yet to be cleared. Up till this moment, no form of investigation have been opened by the authority to look into the merit of the rape accusation.
