Here’s something completely new that we learned today. Did you guys know that a “factoid” is something that appears to be a fact when it really isn’t? Writer Norman Mailer coined the term factoid when describing things that the media tried to pass off as fact. Even back then, you couldn’t completely trust the press…
The correct term to describe a fun, interesting fact should be factid, which our word processor doesn’t even acknowledge. Another acceptable word is “factlet.” We don’t know about you, but factlet sounds adorable as heck. “You guys want to hear a cute factlet?” We should all start using this from now on.
