When two becomes one
Angler fish is one of the deep-water species we learned about in elementary school. It’s odd enough that they use bioluminescence to light up the immediate area around them, but their mating ritual is absolutely bonkers. If you thought a female praying mantis killing its male mate was strange, the angler fish is way stranger.
When a male angler fish finds a suitable mate, it’ll fuse itself onto the body of a female angler fish. Females are seven times the size of their male counterparts, so the dude can slip in pretty much unnoticed. He then fertilizes the female’s eggs before becoming an inseparable part of his lady friend.
