The wedding of Ellen DeGeneres and Portia De Rossi was much-anticipated since the couple never tried to keep it out of the spotlight or secret in any way. One of America’s most beloved talk show hosts met her wife in a set-up through a mutual friend, and to their surprise, as they both recall, it was love at first sight. After the same-sex marriage ban in California was overturned, in 2014, Ellen festively announced on her show the happy news about the couple’s engagement.
Their wedding ended up the opposite of what they had initially planned but turned out to be everything they ever dreamed of. The two tied the knot in their Los Angeles home (or garden, to be precise), with only 19 of their nearest and dearest. Both brides were dresses in Zac Posen designs, but while Ellen didn’t surprise with her outfit, and wore her signature look of a suit – only in white this time – Portia wore a light-pink tulle gown.
