14. Grace Kelly and Prince Rainier III
We’re not unfamiliar with royal weddings, after all, we were around for Prince William and Kate Middleton’s wedding, and we made sure to be in the loop for Prince Harry and Meghan Markle’s wedding. But the wedding of Prince Rainier III of Monaco and the American actress Grace Kelly is another kind of royal wedding. Her dress was the work of acclaimed fashion designer Helen Rose, and a gift from her studio MGM.

On a beautiful day in 1956, Grace Kelly arrived in Monaco from the U.S with a hat covering most of her face, to the dismay of the people of Monaco, expecting to see their new princess. The nuptials took place at the Cathedral of St. Nicholas, and much like the wedding of Prince Harry and Meghan Markle in 2018, it was broadcast for 30 million viewers around the world to see, while only 700 exclusive guests were present in the cathedral.
