37. Elvis and Priscilla Presley
It was only appropriate that the King of Rock and Roll tie the knot in Lea Vegas, the place where you can say he accumulated his fame. Though Elvis Presley was a ladies’ man, it didn’t come as a surprise when he married Priscilla, his long-time girlfriend. Naturally, there was great interest around their wedding (and later their marriage), not only since this was the King of Rock and Roll, but since the singer was ten years older than his girlfriend.
Elvis Presley wasn’t one to shy away from the camera, but since there was a great interest around their wedding, the couple asked to keep it secret and low-key. They chose the Aladdin Hotel for their venue, though Presley used to perform in different hotels in Vegas, and the reception, although they described it as small and intimate, included 100 of their nearest and dearest. Their first dance was to a song by the King himself, dancing to his popular song, “Love me Tender.”
