From Kate Middleton to Queen Elizabeth: The Impeccable Style of the Royal Family

June 16, 2017 by Rebecca Rand

43. Stole the show

This list of royal outfits wouldn’t be complete without Eugenie’s and Beatrice’s infamous hats. During the royal wedding of Prince William and Kate Middleton in 2011, there were several people who stole the show. First, it was Kate younger sister and bride’s maid, Pippa, wearing a white, tight dress, and then there were Princess Beatrice of York, and her younger sister Princess Eugenie, wearing those hats.

We know a true royal can’t give up the hat, and we’re not saying they should, but maybe these specific ones weren’t the best choice. The headpieces, by the British Philip Treacy, drew quite a lot of comments, most of them negative. The intention behind them were good, but the execution not as much – if I was a guest sitting behind one of these hats, I wouldn’t appreciate the fashion statement.
