An Unfortunate Tragedy
The first time Gemma Ward walked the runway at the age of twenty, she earned $25,000 for each show. Despite the Calvin Klein campaign, Miuccia Prada, the fashion designer’s favorite model, was already familiar with her before she appeared in the photo shoot. The tragic death of Heath Ledger forced Ward to take a break from modeling, just as she was on her way to being the next Kate Moss.
After a hiatus of five years, she returned to the catwalk after signing with IMG models to feature in “The Great Gatsby” and “Pirates of the Caribbean: On Stranger Tides.” She had a starring role in a number of movies, including “The Great Gatsby,” which was one of them.
