Peggy Moffitt
Peggy Moffit, who had a face and hairstyle that were instantly recognizable, was one of the most sought-after models in the history of British fashion. Makeup that was influenced by kabuki and extreme fashion helped her stand out, and that’s without even mentioning the monokini swimming suit she wore that became famous and made headlines all over the world.
Moffit was an integral part of the design team led by Rudi Gernreich, and the company later acquired the intellectual property rights to all of Gernreich’s work. The Complete Package: The Artistic Merger and Partnership The exhibition that took place at the Pacific Design Center of the Los Angeles Museum of Contemporary Art and featured work by William Claxton, Rudi Gernreich, and Peggy Moffitt was the result of her attempts to get an exhibition for his body of work.
