Sunday played for different football clubs before retiring from professional football in 2006. The clubs he played for are: RFC Liege, Reggiana, 1 FC Koin, Ajax, Juventus, Borussia Dortmund, VFL Bochum and K.R.C. Genk.
After he retired from professional football in 2006 he decided to take a three-year course in coaching and a Diploma in Business Management. On 14 July 2015 he became the Super Eagles coach and was given a brand new Nissan Altima 2.5 SL 2015 Model Car by the Nigeria Football Federation (NFF). Before he became Super Eagles coach he has worked for two Belgium football clubs as a sport director for Eupen in 2007 and for Verviétois football club from 2008-2009.
