It was striking that Michael Keaton and his co-star in the film were so much older than one other. However, the movie marked his spectacular return to notable movie roles.
If it was intentional for there to be a thirty-year age gap between Keaton and his on-screen lover Laura, who is played by Andrea Riseborough, the movie does a superb job of drawing attention to the fact that there is such a gap. How they played the role was even more interesting.
