Many of our favorite movies may have aspects of CGI or created scenes on set, but plenty of them also were filmed on locations that we know or can even visit. Tourists flock to multiple of these popular movie site destinations throughout the years following a movie coming out, and some are often reused time and time again for films. What are these locations? Well, let’s talk about some of the most popular movie site tourist destinations!

Christ Church College, Oxford
Head over to Oxford, England for the iconic spires that you may recognize from one particular film series: Harry Potter! Christ Church College is stunning and was a film location and inspiration for many different films but most famously for the Harry Potter series that captivated millions since the movies first came out.
Matamata
New Zealand created its own picture perfect version of “Middle Earth”, most commonly recognizable in films like Lord of the Rings and The Hobbit. You can visit Matamata for yourself to feel like you’re in the movies and books for real! Tours are hosted often for this gorgeous little location.
Martha’s Vineyard
Do you happen to be a Jaws fan? Martha’s Vineyard in the state of Massachusetts in the U.S. is where much of the Jaws film was located! This pretty little section of a popular state can transport fans right into the movie, and you can take boats or boat tours out to pretend you may have even been in Jaws yourself.
Ko Phi Phi Leh
Leonardo Di Caprio is the reason for this particular beach’s popularity as he starred in the novel-based film The Beach back in 2000. Tourists absolutely ran to Ko Phi Phi Leh to experience the gorgeous Thai scenery that was present in this film, which of course created a bit of environmental issues at first but has seemingly started to resolve nowadays.

New York City
The number of films and shows that have taken place in one of many New York City locations are endless. From Ghostbusters to various uses of Central Park in films to many more, visiting NYC can really immerse you in many different movies while experiencing a unique blend of cultures that the city hosts.
