Let us now travel back in time to a time before the invention of the internet. While in training, Nancy Kerrigan, an Olympic prospect in figure skating, was already a world-class athlete. In the evening, as she was walking out of practise, she was struck by a baton. This was orchestrated by Kerrigan’s rival’s ex-husband in order to undermine her Olympic aspirations.

While Nancy Kerrigan did not make it to the Olympics, she did make it to the World Championships. When she competed in the 1994 Winter Olympics in Lillehammer, France, she took home a silver medal. Later on, Kerrigan went on tour with ice skating ensembles and worked as a commentator, among other things, for several years.
