Everything is big and usually loud when it comes to celebrities, minus some that keep to themselves or more modest in their lifestyles, especially celebrations. There have been plenty of out of this world parties held or thrown by various celebrities around the world for all kinds of reasons.

Miley Cyrus is well known for her massive parties, and plenty of other celebs have set the path or followed it for their birthdays, launch celebrations, and more. Here’s a list of some of the many legendary celebrity parties that have taken place over the years.

 Opium Release Party

Yves Saint Laurent hosted a massive party for the release of the fragrance Opium which was massively controversial and banned in some areas. This party cost a million dollars and was hosted on a yacht in New York City in 1978. Over 800 individuals attended the event including many big names in the industry or Hollywood, and there was plenty of extravagant décor and events during the party.

 Truman Capote’s Ball

In 1966, also in New York City, author Truman Capote put together a $16k black and white ball that took months to plan fully. There were over 500 guests at the ball including major singers, performers, and more; and everyone that attended wore masks. It all had a specific color theme and atmosphere to align with a scene from My Fair Lady. A handful of drama also occurred on the ball night, but it was memorable for many.

 Playboy Parties

The Playboy mansion has a lot of secrets, interest, attraction, and parties behind it but there was one instance, in particular, that was pretty big at the time. In the 1970s as the magazine reached its peak, Playboy hosted a roller disco and pajama party out of the mansion that turned into an ABC special on television and gained plenty of traction for a while. This party in particular was in 1979, but many other occurrences drew attention to Playboy.

 Frank Sinatra’s Home

Frank Sinatra had a marvelous career in his lifetime, and his Farralone house had its own share of the spotlight as well as attention from many celebrities. While one specific party doesn’t come to mind for this example, Sinatra’s Farralone home hosted many celebrities for photoshoots, films, and series as well as hangouts. The place was 10,000 square feet in size and well-liked for many events and parties over the years.

 Hearst Castle

Hearst Castle was a host for a massive costume ball in 1937 with around 2,000 attendees that all dressed in various circus-themed costumes per the attire requirements. It was thrown by Marion Davies who was with William Randolph Hearst who was big in the publishing world. Marion also was known to throw many other extravagant parties in the over 100 room castle as well as a beach house that the couple owned, some lasting for days at a time.

This certainly isn’t the most exhaustive list of all of the crazy parties celebrities have thrown over the decades, but it’s some of the most memorable or biggest ones that occurred. Celebrities certainly know how to use their positions or money to make the most out of their moments or lives when given the opportunity to or wanting to, and some of these definitely seem far out ideas or over the top for the occasion. But that’s what being famous is for some people, and it’s interesting to learn about these events.
