Nollywood actress and former President of the Actors Guild of Nigeria, Ibinabo Fiberesima has been sentenced to jail to five years imprisonment by Lagos High Court for the death of one Dr. Giwa Suraj, a staff of a Lagos State Hospital. But the the actress has filed a suit to the Court of Appeal in Lagos, challenging the judgement.
Her case has been in court since ten years ago for manslaughter, the case involves the death of a Lagos doctor, Giwa Suraj that happened in February 2006 after Ibinabo hit him on the Lekki–Epe expressway.
The trial, which has been heard at various lower courts, has seen the actress, who was once fined N100, 000 by a Magistrate Court, sentenced to a 5-year jail term by a High Court for dangerous and reckless driving.
The case came up again days ago at an Appeal Court sitting in Lagos as the actress filed a suit challenging the ruling of the Lagos High Court who handed her the 5-year sentence.
Ibinabo Fiberesima, who was not at the trial, is to appear before it when judgement is to be delivered at the Lagos High Court.
