Mindy Kaling
Born Vera Mindy Chokalingam, she is more popularly known as The Office actress, Mindy Kaling. She changed her name because when she performed at comedy clubs the MCs couldn’t pronounce it. She was named Mindy thanks to the Robin Williams ‘70s TV show “Mork and Mindy”. Apparently, this was the only American show that her mother could get in Nigeria when she was pregnant with Mindy. It inspired her mother to include it in her name. The actress was thrilled to tell Robin Williams the unique story of how she got her middle name. But unfortunately, he didn’t believe her!
