Celebrities are a top icon in the world. They have millions of fans or followers online and in person, massive homes, tons of money, and so much else that seems to put them so far “above” everyday people and lives like us. It also means many of their fans really want to be able to meet this allusive idea of a celebrity, or to message them online and get a response like you might with friends and family. But do celebs even open what you send? Well, that’s a tricky topic to think on but that’s why we’re here today. Let’s talk about do celebs answer DMs on social media.
The easiest and general answer to this question is no. Celebrities don’t answer or even open a majority of the messages they receive online, especially on social media. However; there are plenty of reasons why that is and there are some exceptions.
Think about it: you receive millions of notifications online every day, from likes to follows to comments to DMs to texts and more. Would you open every single one? Probably not. This is pretty common for celebrities to have every day or even every hour depending on the individual and their fan base.
Chances are some messages sent to celebs don’t even make it to their devices when you consider how many celebs have personal assistants or security to filter communication with the public or how social media platforms have limits to how many DMs will actually show before it’s just glitched out.
One reason that this question can be a more difficult answer is well, what do you consider a celebrity? Some people consider those with hundreds or a thousand followers a celebrity, in which case many individuals in that classification will still be able to or try their best to answer DMs or comments and interact with their fans.
Also, replying to fans and interacting with individuals outside their lives isn’t really a one size fits all when it comes to how celebrities handle it all. It’s a matter of personal preference and character quality. A handful of celebrities love meeting their fans and do their best to do things like meetups, answering social media when possible, concerts, and so on. And plenty just don’t want to do any of that.
Plus, getting so many interactions from people you don’t actually know can be a bit overwhelming and easily get too hard to keep up with. When you have to run a business, keep up with appointments, and probably a bunch else behind the scenes it’s most likely the last thing on your mind to be replying to social media in the form of comments or DMs alike.
Either way, celebrities usually won’t answer your DM. But it’s such a hard topic to think about if you’re just thinking about it being another human and nothing different between you and the celebrity’s lives. The bottom line is there are always a lot of complex factors at hand when you do something like message a famous person online or follow their lives through social media. So many things happen behind the world of celebrity culture that you don’t see, just like how most people may not know every single piece of your life either. Hopefully this helps give you some perspective today.
