Why Queen Elizabeth II Doesn’t Take her Christmas Decorations Down Until February

November 26, 2015 by Veronica Phillips

Lots of drinking

Right after church, the family heads home and resumes celebrating Christmas. They do so by popping the gin and wine bottles. According to past staff members, when the bottles open, the alcohol continues until dinner.

The queen will usually drink gin and Dubonnet, while her husband will open a bottle or two of beer. Everyone else sticks to Veuve Clicquot, which helps them loosen up and enjoy the festivities even more. When the dinner bells ring, everyone puts down the drinks in their hands and starts sipping wine. The queen is partial to Gewurztraminer, a white wine with a lovely aroma.
