Why Queen Elizabeth II Doesn’t Take her Christmas Decorations Down Until February

November 26, 2015 by Veronica Phillips

Testing the royal staff

Based on Inside Sandringham: Holidaying with the Queen, a documentary about working in the queen’s home during the holiday season, one of the head staff members revealed that there’s a very specific test for anyone who wants to work there. This is to ensure that they’re up to the task of seeing that the holidays go swimmingly and without even the slightest hitch.

One such test is placing a dead fly on the carpet or mantelpiece. They’ll bring a candidate in and have them check out the room. If the candidate both spots the fly and picks it up, they get the job.
