Why Queen Elizabeth II Doesn’t Take her Christmas Decorations Down Until February

November 26, 2015 by Veronica Phillips

A royal Christmas

Being a part of the royal family isn’t just about living like literal kings, queens, and princes. They have to follow a set of rules that would be unfair for the rest of us, but that’s just the way things are done. One such rule is that during Christmas, only immediate family is allowed to set foot in the Sandringham House. Extended family are simply barred from more intimate gatherings.

Kate Middleton is the perfect example of how extended family couldn’t see the queen during Christmas in her Sandringham home. It wasn’t until she tied the knot with Prince William that she could actually come to the house and spend Christmas with her husband and mother-in-law.
