Grateful
Queen Elizabeth II further went on to describe in her letter to Sir Eric that she wasn’t coping well with her new duties. Even though she sorely missed her father and wished he was still around, she was also grateful that he passed peacefully in his sleep.
The queen was having trouble getting over the loss of her father, but she was also grateful that her family was by her side the entire time. She explained to Sir Eric that her husband, Prince Philip, was helping her hold up. Her two children also played an important role while she was grieving. At the time, Princes Edward and Andrew weren’t around yet.
