When James Franco accepted the Best Actor – Motion Picture Musical or Comedy award for The Disaster Artist at the 2018 Golden Globes awards ceremony, he wore a Time’s Up pin on his jacket to show his support for the movement. Later, in the press room, he expressed his belief that all Hollywood men could perform better in that situation.
Although it wasn’t mentioned during his speech, it was implied that Franco himself might benefit from getting a head start on the task. Several women accused him of inappropriate or exploitative behavior on the internet before and during the actual show. Franco, for his part, later stated that he admired and respected them too much to reveal how their allegations were untrue.
