It was the British press that originally brought Kate Middleton to public attention, and they emphasised on her poor upbringing. The fact that her mother, Carole Middleton, had previously worked as an airline hostess was widely publicised. Carole hails from a coal-mining family, as does her father. That’s not so royal!
Kate and Pippa’s father, Michael, on the other hand, comes from a well-to-do family. Both of the girls went to prestigious elite schools, including the boarding school Marlborough College, which was quite expensive. Kate would eventually meet her Prince Charming while studying at the University of St. Andrews.
