Jimi Hendrix
Being arrested for auto theft twice in the span of two hours made Jimi Hendrix realise he’d made one of the worst mistakes of his life. Hendrix was given the option of joining the military or going to prison after being sentenced to prison in 1961, which at the time didn’t seem like much of a choice.
His military career had gotten off to an unorthodox start. In Fort Campbell, Kentucky, he served in the 101st Airborne Division and received a Screaming Eagles Patch for his dedication and hard work during his parachuting schooling. In 1962, Jimi Hendrix was discharged from the military after injuring his ankle while attempting a skydive.
