Tony Curtis
Celebrities such as Tony Curtis, who were known in the entertainment industry for their attractive looks and depth, appreciated their military service. Curtis was a Lieutenant Commander in the United States Navy during World War II. He served from 1943 until 1945. Second Class Signalman, he served in the Pacific Theater of Operations.

Destination Tokyo inspired him to join the Navy, where he fought in the Great War and witnessed Japan’s capitulation in Tokyo from his ship’s signal bridge. At the end of his life Curtis was honoured by the local US Air Force with salutes from their flag and fire detail.
