Britney Spears has canceled two shows in Las Vegas this weekend after injuring her ankle in an embarrassing onstage fall, her publicist said Thursday.
“Britney injured her ankle during her performance Wednesday evening and her doctor has advised her not to perform Friday and Saturday evening so that she may heal,” said a statement.
The star was singing her 1999 tune (You Drive Me) Crazy when she lost her footing and hit the deck, and she seemed to be limping as her dancers helped her to her feet.
She tweeted: “Thank you for all of the sweet wishes! Had a little scare on stage tonight with my ankle I’m ok!”
At least Britney can be content in the knowledge that it can happy to any pop icon – as Madonna found out during the Brit Awards earlier this year.
Ticket holders can get refunds or exchanges.
“Britney Spears, Planet Hollywood Resort & Casino and Live Nation apologize for any inconvenience this causes ticket holders,” it added.
