Need 10 years of experience for $10/hour
Being a transcriptionist might not sound like a difficult job. All you do is listen to an audio file and type whatever you hear. However, if you’ve worked as a transcriptionist before, you should know that to transcribe an audio-hour can take more than 60 minutes in real time. Also, the client usually pays per audio-hour, not how long it took you to type up the script.
So, if you have ten years of experience as a transcriptionist, don’t sell yourself short to these bozos. On top of spending all day in front of your computer for a measly $10 per hour, you also have to set aside 90 minutes to talk to management.
