It is indeed ‘an ill wind that blows no one any good’ as the Islamic sect tried to spread its tentacles towards Damaturu, the Yobe state capital, but thanks to the ever ready security forces there, as they firmly retained full control of the state against the ill winded sects.
The state governor who was on his way to Abuja, while his forces at home battled and chased out the insurgents has been briefed by the law enforcement agencies in Damaturu.
Reacting to the incidence, the governor condemned the attack, describing it as heinous/barbaric while he expressed appreciation to the security forces who put their lives at stake to secure the state from the insurgence. Damaturu still remains under government control.
Abdullahi Bego, the special adviser to the governor on Press and Information, told newsmen that the governor has been told about the security conditions and the effort being put to make sure that no remnants of the attackers is left in the town.
Full of praises and commending the security forces, Governor Geidam called on them to maintain the highest alert level and to carry the good work on without looking back.
The Defense Headquarters in Damaturu also issued a press release regarding the recapture of state. It says that the work of the ground troops, assisted by the Nigerian air force, is to be thanked for the successful bombardments of the military.
Security personnel on their own have clung to their triggers as a top “security source” revealed that the battle is far from being over.
